For the Canarians, the Guanches were and are at the same time, the other and us. We have been united and divided by the Guanches. However, in any case, they have been present and have been a part of our historic common sense. Dead or alive, degraded or praised, denied or vindicated, they bring to a head the historic tensions of our people.
